Course  Guidelines

This course covers two major areas.

a) Design techniques for advanced microprocessors.
b) Fundamental paradigms and issues regarding parallel computer architectures.

The class meets every Monday from 6:00pm to 8:30pm including a short break. There are two in-class tests and one take home test. The schedule is to be announced in class. The take home test is given at the at last class meeting. All in class tests are open note tests. There are two sample tests to be handed in class about a week prior to each of the first two tests, respectively.

There are several resources for this course.

• Text Book (not required): Hennessy and Patterson, Computer Architecture, Quantitative Approach (3rd Ed.), Morgan Kaufmann, 2002.
• Several copies of book chapters deposited in the Library circulation desk, 2 hour checkout basis.

Grading :  Test 1:  30%, Test 2:  30%, Test 3:  40%.
